A Defence Spokesperson revealed that the operation was initiated following precise intelligence regarding narcotics trafficking in the area.

Acting promptly on the tip-off, a combined unit of the Assam Rifles and Assam Police intercepted the suspects at Burunga village near Kalain on Saturday night as they were in the process of transporting the drugs, intending to transport them across to Meghalaya.

During this operation, the authorities apprehended five members of the drug trafficking syndicate.

Additionally, two vehicles utilized for the transport of the illegal substances were seized, along with multiple mobile phones found in the possession of the accused.

The detained suspects, along with the confiscated vehicles and mobile phones, were subsequently handed over to the Assam Police in Cachar district for in-depth investigation and legal action.
