Guwahati, April 10 (NationPress) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday that to promote women's involvement in the forthcoming Tata Semiconductor facility located in Jagiroad, Morigaon district, the state government plans to construct a cutting-edge hostel at a cost of Rs 142 crore.

CM Sarma emphasized that the women’s hostel will accommodate over a thousand women who are determined to secure their futures with purpose and pride.

He stated that this hostel, funded at Rs 142 crore, will serve as more than just a physical structure; it will become a symbol of Nari Shakti - a sanctuary where dreams are nurtured and aspirations take flight.

The Tata Semiconductor Facility is set to provide ample opportunities for our Nari Shakti to play an active role in the state's progress.

The hostel will offer a range of modern amenities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment: spacious bedrooms to welcome weary minds after long working hours; leisure areas for relaxation and camaraderie; a cozy creche for working mothers to leave their children in trusted care; and a peaceful library where thoughts and dreams converge in quiet harmony. Centrally located, there will be a lively common area, filled with laughter, shared meals, and inspiring stories.

The mess facility will guarantee that nutritious meals are always accessible, nurturing both body and spirit. For the safety of the women, secure boundary walls with sound insulation, CCTV monitoring, and vigilant security guard stations will be established.

The Chief Minister remarked that the Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt. Ltd. (TSAT), India’s pioneering indigenous greenfield semiconductor assembly and testing facility, is set to emerge as not just a factory, but a beacon of progress for the North Eastern Region.

Empowered by India’s forward-thinking Semiconductor Policy, the initiative enjoys the backing of the India Semiconductor Mission and the Electronics Policy of Assam, marking a crucial step toward self-sufficiency in advanced technology. Beyond being a commercial endeavor, TSAT symbolizes a transformative moment — merging innovation, investment, and inclusive development.

Approved by the Union Cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 29, 2024, this project underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to equitable regional growth.

With construction slated to commence this year and the first phase expected to be operational by mid-2025, the facility is primed to serve as a catalyst for industrial growth, job creation, and skill enhancement throughout the region.
