Guwahati, Feb 23 (NationPress) The government of Assam has allocated Rs 120 crore in financial support under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) during a significant event at the Jyoti Bishnu Antarkatik Kala Mandir.

This occasion also saw the initiation of several pivotal programs aimed at enhancing rural livelihoods and advancing digital access throughout the state. Key initiatives include the Mukhyamantri Utkarsh Yojana, Krishi Sarathi App, Samaveshi Ajeevika Yojana, and the Rural One App, which underscore the government's commitment to inclusive development and technology-led service delivery in rural Assam.

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, graced the event as the chief guest, while Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired the proceedings and introduced a range of new policies aimed at supporting farmers and improving rural infrastructure.

In his address, Chief Minister Sarma announced a novel scheme for Farmers’ Producer Organisations (FPOs), designed to offer both financial and technical assistance to farmers.

He emphasized that this initiative would enable farmers to leverage the free trade agreements India has established with nations such as the United States, United Kingdom, and United Arab Emirates.

“This will allow Assam to export its agricultural and horticultural products to international markets, thus increasing farmers’ incomes,” remarked the Chief Minister.

Additionally, Union Minister Chouhan introduced a new program under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), which will facilitate the construction of approximately 1,500 kilometers of new rural roads in Assam.

This project is projected to cost around Rs 2,000 crore and is anticipated to significantly enhance connectivity in remote and rural regions of the state.

Union Minister Chouhan commended Assam’s initiatives to fortify rural development programs and reiterated the Centre's dedication to assisting the state’s efforts to empower farmers and self-help groups.

The measures unveiled during the event are poised to enhance rural livelihoods, boost agricultural exports, and accelerate infrastructure development, reinforcing Assam’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive rural advancement.
