The brazen attack took place right outside the State Bank of India (SBI) Main Branch, with the criminals escaping with a staggering Rs 93 lakh in cash.

The assailants, who had been following the cash van, struck at the moment it was parked outside the bank, where an ATM was also located. One of the guards, Giri Venkatesh, was shot dead instantly, while his colleague, Shivakumar, was critically hurt. Medical professionals have reported that Shivakumar's condition is extremely serious. Prior to opening fire, the assailants threw chilli powder at the guards.

As per police accounts, two masked robbers discharged five rounds at the ATM vehicle and its guards. After the assault, they fled with Rs 93 lakh in cash. Pradeep Gunti, the Superintendent of Police in Bidar, promptly arrived at the scene to oversee the investigation.

The robbery transpired while cash was being replenished in the ATM at Shivaji Chowk, situated in the bustling center of Bidar city. The injured guard, Shivakumar, is currently receiving treatment at the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS).

The criminals, who were on two motorcycles, executed the attack, seized the cash box, and escaped. Despite the locals raising an alarm, throwing stones, and attempting to capture the robbers, they managed to evade capture.

Reports indicate that both Giri Venkatesh and Shivakumar worked for CMS Agency, a firm specializing in ATM cash-filling services.

The assailants were clad in black jackets and hats, carrying backpacks during the assault. The police have reviewed CCTV footage of the event and initiated a manhunt to locate the offenders.
