Ayodhya, Oct 13 (NationPress) Just a day after Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav referred to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as an 'infiltrator', claiming he hails from Uttarakhand and should be returned to his native state, SP MP Awadhesh Prasad expressed his support for Yadav, asserting that the situation in the state has deteriorated under Yogi’s governance.
In an interview with IANS, Awadhesh Prasad remarked: 'I concur with everything Akhilesh Yadav has stated. The state of Uttar Pradesh has significantly declined. This is primarily due to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath losing his credibility. The state is no longer under his governance.'
He further criticized the BJP’s administration, claiming it has only exacerbated public hardships. 'Currently, there exists a double-engine government—one at the Centre led by PM (Narendra) Modi and another in states like Uttar Pradesh. Wherever they govern, the issues faced by the populace have only escalated. The nation is grappling with massive unemployment. Our youth, despite their advanced qualifications, are facing challenges, with reports of suicides emerging. The true wealth of a nation lies in its citizens, not in gold or silver. Government positions are vanishing, and privatisation is on the rise, indicating a lack of reservation or public employment opportunities. This aligns with the RSS ideology,' he added.
Commenting on HAM chief Jitan Ram Manjhi’s recent frustrations regarding NDA seat-sharing in Bihar, Prasad stated: 'The people and electorate of Bihar have decisively chosen to oust the BJP government. Regarding the internal matters within the NDA, we do not intervene—that is their concern. However, one fact remains clear: the public has made its decision. Bihar’s political landscape will create history, and the movement to remove the BJP government will commence there.'
Earlier today, Manjhi expressed that he is satisfied with the NDA's seat-sharing arrangement for the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections, despite his party receiving significantly fewer seats than requested.
Reflecting on his previous experience during the Lok Sabha elections, Manjhi noted that he is 'accustomed to being denied things.'
This statement follows the ruling NDA, which includes the HAM, announcing its seat-sharing plan for the 243-member Bihar Assembly.
According to the agreement, HAM was assigned six seats, substantially less than the number Manjhi initially sought.
Initially, Manjhi had requested 40 seats for the 2025 elections but later reduced his demand to 15. Ultimately, the alliance allocated only six seats to his party.
In his conversation with IANS, Manjhi stated, 'During the parliamentary elections, we were promised two Lok Sabha seats and one Rajya Sabha seat but received only one. We had requested a minimum of eight seats for recognition as a registered party. However, one cannot guarantee that securing eight seats guarantees victory. Therefore, we sought at least 15 seats, but were offered only six. Nevertheless, we remain satisfied.'
