Chandigarh, March 14 (NationPress) The President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Sukhbir Singh Badal, declared on Saturday his unwavering commitment to championing the rights of Punjab and its citizens. He expressed his strong belief that the populace would rally behind his party, leading to a significant victory in the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections.

In response to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s announcement to contest the 2027 Punjab elections on its own, Badal shared his thoughts with the media following a public meeting in Sahnewal. He stated, "Every political party has the liberty to make its own choices regarding alliances."

Emphasizing that the Akali Dal participated independently in the 2024 Parliamentary elections, he asserted, "For us, the interests of Punjab and its people are paramount, sovereign, and take precedence over all else."

Badal underscored that the SAD distinguishes itself from parties based in Delhi, which he accused of seeking power solely for their own gain. He reiterated that his party has consistently adhered to its core principles.

"Previously, former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal faced numerous temptations but opted to remain imprisoned for 16 years rather than compromise the state's rights. I am equally committed to advocating for the rights of Punjab. I trust in the discernment of the people of Punjab, who understand they have been consistently let down by Delhi's parties," he said.

Badal expressed confidence that the people of Punjab would grant the SAD 100 seats in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Earlier, while addressing the crowd, Badal questioned, "Can Amit Shah (Union Home Minister) or Modiji (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) genuinely care for you (people of Punjab) like the Badal family or the SAD does?"

He claimed that all parties from Delhi, including the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), come to Punjab with the intention of exploiting it. In contrast, the SAD has always stood by the people, even during challenging times, such as last year's devastating floods when both the AAP government and the Central government neglected the people of Punjab.

In response to a suggestion from former Minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon to create the World Skill University envisioned by the SAD in Sahnewal, Badal affirmed, "We (SAD) will ensure its establishment and involve corporates to provide precise training tailored to the industry's skill requirements for our youth."
