Kolkata, Feb 15 (NationPress) The West Bengal Police announced on Saturday that the Bidhannagar City Police have taken into custody a Bangladeshi woman accused of deceiving and extorting multiple Indian husbands in the region.

An official report indicated that the suspect was apprehended in Rajarhat, located on the northern fringes of Kolkata.

Authorities confiscated a valid Bangladeshi passport along with forged Indian AADHAR and PAN cards from her. The detained woman has been identified as Sahana Sadik (32), and police are currently conducting an interrogation.

Investigations have revealed that she entered West Bengal on a medical visa a few years ago. Once in the state, she began to ensnare young men from her community, marrying them one after the other, although none of these unions were officially documented.

Eventually, she extorted significant sums from each husband through deceit or blackmail, subsequently severing ties. Police sources mentioned that she predominantly employed blackmail tactics, threatening to file domestic violence cases against her husbands.

Her most recent husband, whom she married in 2024, became suspicious of her actions upon discovering her possession of both a Bangladeshi passport and Indian AADHAR and PAN cards.

He promptly reported the situation to local authorities, leading to her initial detention and subsequent arrest following questioning.

Sources noted that in the past, her prior husbands had capitulated to her blackmail, likely out of fear of losing social standing, thus allowing her to escape by paying her off.

However, her latest husband was astute enough to uncover her dual identity and alerted the police, resulting in her capture. She first entered India with a medical visa in 2020 and married a local man the same year.
