Bangladeshi Infiltrators Apprehended in West Bengal's Nadia District

Kolkata, Nov 30 (NationPress) Four illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators were apprehended from Mazdia under Krishnaganj Police Station in Nadia district of West Bengal on Saturday.

The individuals detained have been recognized as Sumi Akhtar, Iman Biswas, Shankar Biswas, and Rupkumar Biswas.

According to sources within the state police, while the accused hailed from four distinct locations in Bangladesh, they unlawfully crossed the porous borders in the district and began residing in a local residence at Majdia, impersonating Indian citizens.

Acting on intelligence gathered by their sources, officers from Krishnaganj Police Station conducted a raid on the property on Saturday morning, leading to the arrest of the four illegal Bangladeshi residents.

Subsequently, all individuals were brought before a district court in Nadia, which placed them in police custody. Sources indicated that law enforcement is currently questioning them to ascertain their actual motives for unlawfully entering India and residing locally.

The police are also attempting to identify any local accomplices who assisted them in crossing into India and settling there. They have been charged under various provisions of the Foreigner’s Act.

In a related incident, officers from the Park Street station in Kolkata also apprehended a Bangladeshi national named Selim Matabbar, also known as Safiq Sardar, who had been living in Kolkata and working at a local hotel using a counterfeit Indian passport.

This individual reportedly had strong ties to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) during his time in Bangladesh.

The President of the West Bengal BJP and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar stated that under the governance of Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal has turned into a “haven” for illegal infiltrators, attributed to her appeasement politics.

“Citizens from the neighboring country infiltrate India effortlessly, acquiring identification documents, while her administration hinders central initiatives to establish Border Outposts (BOPs) and openly criticizes the BSF. Does the Chief Minister aim to protect these infiltrators? After observing the situation in Bangladesh, will she continue to remain inactive? She owes the nation an explanation,” he remarked.
