Counterfeit Indian Identities for Bangladeshi Intruders: Bengal Police Target Nadia Syndicate

Kolkata, Dec 2 (NationPress) The detectives of Kolkata and West Bengal Police are diligently working to uncover the kingpins behind a substantial racket operating in the India-Bangladesh border district of Nadia, which is largely accountable for forging fake Indian identities for Bangladeshi infiltrators.

Informed sources indicated that over the past week, authorities apprehended five illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators with counterfeit Indian identities—one in Kolkata and four in Nadia.

All five individuals share a commonality: their fraudulent Indian identity documents were fabricated in Nadia district by the syndicate operating in that region.

For instance, the man detained in Kolkata, Selim Matabbar a.k.a. Safiq Sardar, successfully acquired a counterfeit Indian passport under the alias Ravi Sharma.

Investigators have also uncovered his previous connections with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

This shared element of all their counterfeit Indian documents being sourced from Nadia district has led the Investigating Officials to reassess the confiscated documents of all Bangladeshi infiltrators arrested from Nadia in recent years.

Authorities have also requested records from the Nadia district police regarding the specific cases in the district where agents linked to the creation of such counterfeit Indian identities were apprehended over the past few years.

In one instance involving a person arrested in Kolkata, not only did he secure a fake Indian passport but he also obtained employment at a hotel in the Park Street area of Kolkata using that fraudulent identity.

He was arrested by the police at the same hotel on the morning of November 30.

Sources reported that the Investigating Officials are also probing the extent of his ties to the BNP before unlawfully crossing over to India.

On that same day, Nadia district police apprehended four other illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators: Sumi Akhtar, Iman Biswas, Shankar Biswas, and Rupkumar Biswas from Mazdia under the jurisdiction of Krishnaganj Police Station in Nadia.
