Kolkata, Feb 9 (NationPress) Four Bangladeshi infiltrators along with their Indian accomplice were apprehended in the Hanskhali locality of West Bengal's Nadia district, situated in close proximity to the international border.
According to sources within the district police, these four Bangladeshi infiltrators, who had crossed into India a few months ago, were attempting to return to their home country late on Saturday night.
Acting on a tip-off, officers from the local Hanskhali Police initially detained these four illegal Bangladeshi entrants. From their interrogation, authorities uncovered the identity of their Indian agent, who had facilitated their entry into India and was aiding their return to Bangladesh. Subsequently, the agent was also taken into custody.
The four apprehended Bangladeshi infiltrators have been named as Jasim Uddin, Baharul Sheikh, Quddus Sardar, and Akalima Sardar.
The Indian agent involved has been identified as Rajib Biswas, a resident of the Bogula area under Hanskhali Police Station.
All four individuals were presented to a district court in Ranaghat, Nadia district, on Sunday morning.
A police official stated that during questioning, Biswas confessed to aiding the four Bangladeshi infiltrators in entering India and facilitating their return.
He also acknowledged his involvement in arranging illegal crossings into India for Bangladeshi citizens for an extended period.
Investigators suspect that Biswas may be part of a larger network that not only facilitates illegal border crossings but also provides fraudulent Indian identification documents, including passports.
The police have requested custody of Biswas for further interrogation to uncover information about the masterminds behind this racket.
Simultaneously, law enforcement aims to interrogate the four arrested Bangladeshi infiltrators to ascertain their motives for entering India months ago.
