Bengal School Employment Scandal: CBI Authorized to Obtain Voice Sample of Main Accused

Kolkata, Jan 10 (NationPress) A special court in Kolkata has, on Friday, approved the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to collect the voice samples of a primary suspect in the case, Sujay Krishna Bhadra.

According to the court's order, CBI officials must first bring Bhadra to court on January 21 before they can proceed with the collection of his voice samples.

However, the court emphasized that the collection of these voice samples can only occur with Bhadra's consent.

It is noteworthy that the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is conducting its own investigation into the school job scandal, has already secured Bhadra's voice sample, who is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kolkata.

Additionally, the same special court has allowed Kalyanmoy Bhattacharya, another individual named in the ED's chargesheet, to temporarily return to his job in the United States under specific conditions.

Bhattacharya is the son-in-law of Partha Chatterjee, the former West Bengal education minister and secretary general of the Trinamool Congress, who is listed as the primary accused by the ED in this school job case.

Chatterjee remains in judicial custody after being arrested by the ED in July 2022, following the discovery of significant amounts of cash and gold at the residences of his close associate Arpita Mukherjee, who is also implicated by the central agency.

In its chargesheet, the ED has identified 29 individuals and 24 corporate entities and trusts as accused parties.

Among these is the Babli Chatterjee Memorial Trust, named in honor of Partha Chatterjee's late wife.

Moreover, the process of framing charges in the ED's registered case concerning the alleged school job scam has been finalized, and the trial is expected to commence this month.
