Bengaluru, June 6 (NationPress) Security measures have been significantly enhanced at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s official residence, 'Kaveri', on Friday due to concerns about potential protests from opposition BJP and JD(S) members. They are condemning the state government's failure to prevent the recent stampede near Chinnaswamy Stadium, which resulted in the tragic loss of 11 lives, as well as the suspension of senior police officials.

The BJP has voiced its dismay over the suspension of three senior IPS officers, alongside two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) and one Police Inspector.

Former BJP MP Pratap Simha remarked in Bengaluru that the government has capitulated to the RCB management by permitting the victory celebration. He noted that the police have effectively managed high-profile matches in the past without incidents. The recent suspensions have demoralized the police force.

Bhaskar Rao, a former Bengaluru Police Commissioner and BJP leader, expressed on social media platform X, “Chief Minister Siddaramiah appears to be in a state of panic. The suspension of the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner marks a dark chapter in Karnataka’s police history. This is a reward for their truthfulness, as they worked tirelessly to maintain safety in Bengaluru.”

“It is widely recognized in Karnataka that the uncontrollable Deputy Chief Minister (D.K. Shivakumar) orchestrated the 'Death March' and is the primary culprit. No Chief Minister has exhibited such helplessness, cowardice, and panic. The government bears responsibility for this tragedy and has now lost its grip on reality,” Rao added.

BJP state President B.Y. Vijayendra stated that the CM, Deputy CM, and the Home Minister should have accepted moral responsibility instead of taking punitive measures against the police.

He posted on X, “The tragic death of 11 innocent individuals and the suffering of thousands stem from the ruthless exploitation of an event disguised as an RCB victory celebration. The High Court is currently examining a Public Interest Litigation regarding this. Rather than resigning in recognition of their moral failures, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Home Minister have shamefully suspended the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner and others.”

This action represents a cowardly attempt to evade accountability. The people of Karnataka are deeply hurt, their anger has reached a boiling point, and the heart-wrenching cries of parents mourning their lost children resonate with anyone possessing humanity, he remarked.

“This stampede is now regarded as a significant tragedy in Karnataka's history. The celebration held at Vidhana Soudha, the heart of democracy in the capital, lacked any proper standards of national or state significance, driven solely by greed, transforming the area into a graveyard,” Vijayendra asserted.

“The Congress-led government under Siddaramaiah is facing widespread condemnation from the residents of Karnataka. In such dire circumstances, instead of demonstrating integrity by resigning to preserve their dignity, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Home Minister have sacrificed police officials, reminiscent of Tughlaq's rule,” he stated.

Vijayendra contended that the Congress government is clinging to power with an indifferent attitude. “Whether lives are lost or people suffer, their only priority is remaining in power. The moment when the people will rise against this government is drawing closer,” he warned.

“By making police officers scapegoats and behaving like 'a monkey eating and wiping its mouth on a goat', Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and Home Minister G. Parameshwara cannot evade responsibility. I urge all three to resign immediately to protect their honour,” Vijayendra concluded.
