Chennai, Dec 30 (NationPress) AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has initiated a vigorous campaign in Tiruvallur district, rallying under the banner of “Save the People, Save Tamil Nadu”, while directing a fierce critique towards the governing DMK administration.
During a public gathering at Kavaraipettai, Palaniswami condemned the DMK for its perceived inadequacies in serving the people of Tamil Nadu and claimed the State was being operated without a clear vision. “The DMK government resembles a vehicle lacking an engine. For the past decade, it has merely been dragged along by its coalition partners,” he stated, eliciting enthusiastic cheers from supporters.
Palaniswami also addressed detractors of the AIADMK, asserting that the party has consistently showcased its resilience by overcoming political rivals. “Some suggest that AIADMK's alliances are communal. Were the DMK's alliances with the same groups not also communal? The people are not fooled by double standards,” he remarked.
The AIADMK leader accused the DMK government of disregarding the welfare of farmers and agricultural workers. “For the past 56 months, the DMK has done nothing to support farmers. Only due to AIADMK's advocacy did the Centre raise the number of guaranteed employment days under MGNREGA from 100 to 125,” he asserted.
Moreover, Palaniswami alleged that discord was growing within the ruling coalition. “There is turmoil within the DMK alliance. Even partners like the VCK and the CPI are now seeking a greater share in governance. This is a clear indication of governmental instability,” he noted.
In a pointed critique of the State's fiscal management, Palaniswami charged the DMK with driving Tamil Nadu into unprecedented levels of debt. “Tamil Nadu has become the leading State in terms of borrowing. The Chief Minister has shackled future generations with loans. To service these debts, the government will impose additional taxes on the populace,” he warned.
He also lambasted the establishment of a fiscal oversight committee, claiming that despite its implementation, the State's debt continues to escalate. “Instead of alleviating the burden, the government is accumulating more debt, pushing citizens into deeper financial hardship,” he asserted.
Wrapping up his address, Palaniswami confidently proclaimed that the AIADMK would triumph in the forthcoming elections and reclaim governance in Tamil Nadu. “The people are observant. The moment has arrived to dismantle this ineffective regime and restore good governance,” he concluded.
