Key Takeaways
Tiruchirappalli, March 11 (NationPress) AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami declared on Wednesday that the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will signify the conclusion of the Karunanidhi family's political supremacy in the region, accusing the ruling DMK of operating as a family-run corporate establishment.
During his address at the third campaign rally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Panchapur, Tiruchirappalli district, Palaniswami asserted that the citizens of Tamil Nadu are prepared to terminate the political reign of the Karunanidhi family.
“The populace of Tamil Nadu has resolved that this election will be the final chapter for the Karunanidhi family's political influence in this state,” he stated, launching a pointed critique of the ruling DMK administration.
Palaniswami characterized the AIADMK-BJP coalition in Tamil Nadu as a robust and efficient alliance aimed at displacing the DMK from governance. He highlighted that the coalition comprises parties with diverse ideologies but united by a shared goal of defeating the ruling party.
Reflecting on the AIADMK’s earlier governance, he noted that the years between 2011 and 2021 represented a golden age for Tamil Nadu under AIADMK leadership, contrasting it with the decline seen in various sectors under the current DMK regime.
Targeting Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Palaniswami remarked that numerous public engagements would not suffice in regaining the people's confidence.
“Regardless of how many meetings Stalin holds, the citizens will not place their trust in him. The DMK has a history of promising much during electoral campaigns but failing to deliver once in power,” he asserted.
Palaniswami emphasized that the AIADMK has consistently honored its commitments to the public.
“When the AIADMK makes a promise, we see it through,” he affirmed.
He also challenged the DMK’s assertion that its alliance is ideologically based.
“If that’s the case, why not maintain separate parties? Each party in our alliance has its own ideology, yet we are united to defeat the DMK in the upcoming elections,” he remarked.
Labeling the DMK as a family-oriented party operating similarly to a corporate entity, Palaniswami expressed confidence that the NDA alliance will form the next government in Tamil Nadu.
He also pointed out the AIADMK government’s initiatives for farmers, mentioning that the party collaborated with the Union government to designate the Cauvery delta districts as Protected Agricultural Zones, ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability in that area.
The rally in Tiruchirappalli was attended by various leaders and supporters from multiple NDA allies and forms part of the coalition’s campaign leading up to the impending Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
