Synopsis
Key Takeaways
In Madurai on March 1, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami confidently declared that the AIADMK-led coalition is poised to achieve a decisive victory in the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, aiming to secure 210 seats to establish the next government. Speaking at a large public gathering in Madurai, Palaniswami emphasized the coalition's expectation of a resounding mandate throughout the State.
“Our alliance will triumph with 210 seats and form the AIADMK government. It is imperative that we put an end to this anti-people regime. Our alliance's candidates must achieve victory in all 234 constituencies,” he proclaimed, eliciting enthusiastic cheers from party supporters.
Palaniswami called for grassroots mobilization, urging party members to amplify their campaign efforts in every constituency. “We must operate like bees and ants across all 234 constituencies. Each cadre must commit themselves to ensuring our success,” he said, highlighting the importance of discipline, coordination, and strengthening at the booth level.
Targeting the ruling DMK, Palaniswami accused them of not launching their campaign effectively and misleading the public. He challenged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin regarding the State's development achievements.
“What funds has Stalin secured for Tamil Nadu, and what significant schemes has he introduced? Prime Minister Narendra Modi has allocated thousands of crores for the development of Tamil Nadu,” he remarked.
Palaniswami further critiqued the DMK's historical ties with the Union government, questioning what Tamil Nadu benefitted during their nearly 15-year association. “The DMK is synonymous with corruption; it is the only government in the nation dismissed on corruption charges,” he asserted.
He accused the DMK of endorsing dynastic politics and called on party workers to ensure the DMK’s electoral defeat. “We must bring an end to family rule. Our mission is to oust this corrupt and anti-people government,” he stated.
This rally in Madurai signifies a crucial push by the AIADMK-led alliance as political activities ramp up in anticipation of the Assembly elections, with both major Dravidian parties preparing for a high-stakes electoral contest.
