Bengaluru, April 18 (NationPress) The police in Bengaluru apprehended an auto-rickshaw driver on Friday for harassing a woman in a public area, where he insisted on obtaining her contact number and pressuring her to let him take a selfie with her.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Pulakeshinagar police station. The individual taken into custody was identified as Mani.

As per police reports, the woman was with her male companion near a shop when the accused driver approached her, requesting her contact information.

The driver also insisted that she permit him to capture a selfie with her. The woman later informed authorities that the accused even attempted to take the selfie without her consent.

Following the incident, she filed a complaint with the police seeking action against him.

The victim stated that she did not know the accused, describing him as a complete stranger. The police are currently investigating the matter.

In a related incident, the Bengaluru Police arrested a man who exposed himself to a homemaker and assaulted seven individuals, including her husband, when confronted, authorities reported on Friday.

Previously, a video went viral on social media depicting two young women being harassed by a man in the early hours within a residential area. The 17-second clip showed the women walking along an empty street when a man approached from behind, pushed one aside, sexually harassed the other, and then fled. The footage captured the visibly shaken women as they paused to regain their composure before exiting the scene. Ten days later, Karnataka Police apprehended the suspect, a 26-year-old named Santosh Daniel, from a village in Kerala.

On April 13, Karnataka Police fatally shot an individual implicated in the kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder of a girl in Hubballi. The suspect was recognized as Ritesh Kumar, a 35-year-old from Patna, Bihar.

Another alarming case emerged recently involving a young man who allegedly attempted to sexually assault a five-year-old girl, subsequently strangling her to death when she resisted. This incident transpired in the vicinity of the Ashokanagar police station in Hubballi. According to police reports, the assailant lured the girl to a shed and made his advances. When she cried for help, locals rushed to the scene. Noticing the crowd, the suspect reportedly strangled the girl and fled.
