In a comprehensive update on X, the Chief Minister detailed the advancements in education since his administration began in 2005.
"Since we assumed office in November 2005, we have been diligently working to reform the education system. The education budget, which was only 4,366 crore rupees in 2005, has now soared to 77,690 crore rupees," wrote Nitish Kumar.
He highlighted numerous enhancements, including the hiring of numerous teachers, the establishment of new school facilities, and the improvement of essential infrastructure. The Chief Minister also recognized the indispensable role of non-teaching staff in augmenting the quality of education in Bihar.
"Through the appointment of a large number of teachers, new school buildings, and the enhancement of basic infrastructure, we have made substantial strides in the education system. Cooks, night watchmen, and physical education and health instructors have been instrumental in fortifying the education sector," stated Nitish Kumar.
In acknowledgment of their efforts, Kumar declared a significant revision in their compensation: "Considering this, we have resolved to double their honorarium, thereby ensuring a respectable increase in their pay. The honorarium for cooks operating under the mid-day meal program in the Education Department will rise from 1,650 rupees to 3,300 rupees. Likewise, the honorarium for night watchmen in secondary/higher education schools will be increased from 5,000 rupees to 10,000 rupees. Furthermore, the honorarium for physical education and health instructors will be elevated from 8,000 rupees to 16,000 rupees."
