Patna, Aug 11 (NationPress) The Bihar government, under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, has significantly enhanced the security arrangements for six influential state leaders. This includes the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. The decision was made following the recommendations from the State Security Committee.
As per a directive from the Home Department, LoP Tejashwi Yadav is now allocated Z-category security, while Samrat Choudhary will be provided with Z+ security.
This decision was reached during a meeting of the State Security Committee on August 1, which advised the government accordingly.
Tejashwi’s security situation has become a pivotal political issue in recent weeks, as both the RJD and his mother, former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, have raised concerns about potential threats to his life amidst the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Assembly.
Meanwhile, the upgrade in Samrat Chaudhary’s security comes in light of reported death threats and his rising political prominence.
The government has also approved heightened security measures for four additional leaders, including Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan, known as Pappu Yadav, who faces threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Pappu Yadav has long advocated for increased security from the state.
Furthermore, Araria BJP MP Pradeep Kumar Singh's security has been upgraded to Y+ category due to recent threatening communications, as he is recognized as a key leader in the Seemanchal region.
Additionally, Gyanendra Singh Gyanu, the JD(U) MLA from Barh, has also had his security level raised to Y+ category.
Moreover, Neeraj Kumar, the JD(U) MLC and chief party spokesperson, has seen his security elevated to Y category, owing to tensions with certain Bahubali leaders. Previously, he was only provided with personal security consisting of two guards, which the government deemed insufficient.
Post enhancement, Neeraj Kumar will now be protected by seven security personnel continuously.
This upgraded security encompasses both state police and central paramilitary forces, depending on the security category.
Such measures are crucial with the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, as these leaders will be campaigning extensively across the state.
