Patna, Dec 9 (NationPress) The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has apprehended Sanjay Kumar Prabhat, an inhabitant of Sheikhpura and a key figure in the Sanjeev Mukhiya gang, from Gola Road in Patna.
He was captured on December 8, 2025, and subsequently incarcerated the next day.
Officials from the EOU revealed that they had been monitoring him for quite some time.
Sanjay Prabhat, the son of Ram Lakhan Prasad, has a notorious background linked to several examination leak incidents.
He is alleged to have charged approximately Rs 1 lakh from each aspirant in return for leaked question papers for the BPSC TRE 3.0 examination conducted on March 15, 2024.
He was sought after in the Economic Offences Police Station Case No. 06/2024, associated with the TRE-3 paper leak.
During the interrogation, Prabhat confessed to accumulating considerable illegal assets through leaking papers for various competitive examinations.
He had also gathered admit cards from numerous candidates for forthcoming assessments, assuring them of privileged access within the examination centers.
The EOU is presently tracing the financial flow and other details disclosed during the questioning.
Following the interrogation of Sanjay Kumar Prabhat, the EOU is expected to question Sanjeev Mukhiya regarding this matter. He is currently on bail concerning the NEET UG paper leak case.
The EOU, the primary unit of Bihar Police for maintaining the integrity of competitive examinations, has ramped up operations across the state ahead of the Driver Constable Recruitment Examination on December 10, 2025 and the Enforcement Sub-Inspector Examination on December 14, 2025.
This ongoing operation aims to dismantle organized factions involved in examination fraud.
Prabhat is also implicated in the TSEAMCET 2016 paper leak, which is currently under investigation by the Hyderabad CID, as well as in the All India Pre-Medical Test 2016 leak case, filed at the Ramnagar Police Station in Haldwani, Nainital (Uttarakhand).
To date, 289 individuals have been arrested in relation to the TRE-3 paper leak case.
Raids are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects, and investigations are actively proceeding.
