Patna, Sep 27 (NationPress) The Director General of Police (DGP) of Bihar, Vinay Kumar, announced on Saturday that comprehensive security measures are being implemented throughout the state in preparation for the imminent Navratri and Dussehra celebrations, according to officials.
The DGP highlighted that the Central government has dispatched 11 companies of paramilitary forces to assist in managing crowds and upholding law and order during the Durga Puja.
Moreover, the Bihar Police have mobilized thousands of state security personnel, which includes approximately 5,000 Home Guards, personnel from the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP), and 15,000 to 20,000 trainee personnel of various ranks, who will also receive practical field training during the festivities.
Security forces are set to be stationed across all 38 districts, including the capital city of Patna, to facilitate smooth celebrations.
“Preventive measures have been instituted by verifying known criminals and invoking the Crime Control Act (CCA) against habitual offenders. We urge the public to celebrate peacefully and avoid believing in rumors,” stated DGP Kumar.
The state police have also amplified surveillance at sensitive sites to prevent any unfortunate incidents.
Authorities have advised residents and visitors to adhere to key guidelines, which include writing children’s names, addresses, and mobile numbers on a slip to keep in their pockets, never leaving children unattended, walking slowly and maintaining orderly queues, refraining from spreading or believing in false information, and ensuring peace and harmony. Additionally, smoking or consuming intoxicants at Durga Puja venues or crowded areas is prohibited.
The DGP further emphasized that no firecrackers or flammable materials are permitted within the fairgrounds.
He also urged everyone to keep emergency routes clear at all times.
In the interest of public safety, he appealed for full cooperation with police checks and bag inspections.
