BJP Claims Himachal Pradesh Faces 'Financial Emergency', Criticizes Rahul Gandhi's Leadership
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 24 (NationPress) BJP leaders launched a fierce critique against the Congress administration in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, claiming severe financial mismanagement and advocating for the implementation of President’s Rule. They also took aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his perceived inadequacies and conduct.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Harsh Mahajan argued that the recently unveiled state budget showcases a declining financial situation. He characterized the state as undergoing a "financial emergency" and accused the government of imposing heavy taxes on essential commodities like petrol and diesel, placing a significant burden on the citizens.
“Himachal is experiencing a financial emergency—it's the public who are suffering. We will push for President’s Rule. The Congress is clearly incapable of managing affairs,” Mahajan stated to IANS.
Focusing on Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, Mahajan asserted that the Congress leader’s "lack of vision" is evident in how Chief Ministers in Congress-run states operate. “No substantial actions have been taken. Instead, the people of Himachal have been neglected,” he charged.
In agreement, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sikander Kumar emphasized that the fiscal situation of the Himachal Pradesh government is well-known. He contrasted it with the policies of the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that central initiatives are advantageous for states regardless of their political affiliation.
Kumar also pointed out that the Himachal Pradesh budget has been slashed by Rs 4,000 crore, labeling this a "historic" yet alarming trend under the Congress administration.
Addressing LoP Gandhi, Kumar remarked that he should reflect on the circumstances of states governed by his party. “You need to guide your state leaders instead of causing disturbances in Parliament,” he said.
Additionally, BJP MP Madan Rathore criticized LoP Gandhi for allegedly violating parliamentary protocols. He highlighted that Gandhi is part of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) and should raise issues through appropriate institutional frameworks.
“He should bring up matters in the Business Advisory Committee, during Special Mentions, or at Zero Hour. You can’t just stand up at any moment and start disputing. He rarely uses proper channels and merely seeks headlines,” Rathore asserted.
These remarks come amidst intensifying political exchanges between the BJP and Congress regarding governance and economic challenges in Himachal Pradesh.
