Why Are BJP and Congress Supporting the Government's Move to Send Multi-Party MP Delegations Abroad on the Pahalgam Attack?

New Delhi, May 16 (NationPress) The government led by Narendra Modi is preparing to initiate a diplomatic outreach by sending multi-party MP delegations to key global capitals to unveil Pakistan's involvement in the recent Pahalgam terror attack and to gather international support against cross-border terrorism. This initiative has garnered backing from both the ruling BJP and the opposing Congress.

Leaders from both factions have commended the decision, labeling it a proactive measure to bolster India’s standing on the world stage and to challenge Pakistan’s narrative.

BJP leader Gourav Vallabh shared with IANS that this effort symbolizes national solidarity in confronting terrorism.

"This is an excellent initiative by the Prime Minister, uniting all political factions. A cross-party delegation of MPs will visit various nations to underscore how Pakistan-sponsored terrorists targeted individuals in Pahalgam due to their religion. When India’s political leaders present a unified voice globally, it will facilitate the establishment of a cohesive front against terrorism, thereby enhancing India’s global stature and our leadership in diplomacy, commerce, and international relations," he stated.

Similarly, Maharashtra Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal expressed support for the government's plan but called for improved transparency.

"We endorse the government's international endeavors. However, it is crucial for the government to update citizens on the countries the Prime Minister has visited over the past 11 years and whom he has met. Furthermore, it is important to clarify how many nations have publicly endorsed India’s standpoint," he remarked.

Sources indicate that these delegations will have a dual role — informing foreign governments about the facts related to the Pahalgam attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, and elucidating the details of ‘Operation Sindoor’. Officials assert that this operation targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied regions without harming civilians.

This initiative is viewed as a direct reaction to Pakistan’s escalating attempts to internationalize the Kashmir issue. It also follows previous statements from US President Donald Trump, who suggested mediation on Kashmir — a proposal India has firmly dismissed, asserting it is a bilateral concern.

If sanctioned, this would mark the first time the Modi administration has dispatched an all-party group of elected representatives as diplomatic envoys. The goal is to directly counter Pakistan’s propaganda and convey India’s perspective through a unified national front.
