Shimla, February 2 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition in Himachal Pradesh, Jairam Thakur, announced on Sunday that the BJP would be boycotting the MLA priority gathering scheduled for February 3 and 4 in this city.
Over the last two years, none of the issues raised by BJP MLAs have received attention from the Congress government.
"In fact, our MLAs have faced various forms of harassment from the government. During the priority meetings, BJP MLAs present their concerns, yet the government fails to prioritize them. Instead, Congress leaders are given the spotlight," stated former Chief Minister Thakur.
"If the Sukhu government is ignoring the priorities expressed by BJP MLAs at the MLA priority meeting, then what is the purpose of holding such meetings? Consequently, the BJP Legislature Party is opting out of the forthcoming MLA priority gathering," he elaborated.
Thakur pointed out that the elected representatives from the Bharatiya Janata Party are overlooked even during the inauguration ceremonies of projects initiated by the previous government that are nearing completion.
"They are not even invited to these events, and their names are omitted from the inauguration plaques. Instead, Congress leaders are favored. The government is disrespecting the elected BJP MLAs at every opportunity," he asserted.
Thakur also remarked that since the Congress lost the Rajya Sabha elections, the government has been misusing law enforcement.
"BJP MLAs and leaders are subjected to harassment through the abuse of power. This administration is not only targeting the MLAs but also their families, relatives, and businesses. The Sukhu government has surpassed all boundaries of power misuse. Our MLAs are being wrongfully implicated in fabricated cases, and the police are detaining them for hours under the guise of investigation," he added.
