New Delhi, Feb 19 (NationPress) The Parliamentary Board of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared the appointment of two Central observers on Wednesday, just hours before the legislature party meeting in the national capital aimed at selecting a new Chief Minister of Delhi.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, a Lok Sabha MP and former Union Minister, along with Om Prakash Dhankhar, the national secretary of BJP, will supervise the election process as BJP MLAs convene this evening.

Anticipation builds around the party meeting, which is scheduled to occur at the state unit located at Pant Marg around 7 p.m. A total of 48 BJP legislators will decide on the new Chief Minister.

Once the new leader is chosen, they will proceed to Raj Niwas to meet Governor V.K. Saxena and formally claim the mandate for forming the next government.

The inauguration of the new Chief Minister is set for a grand ceremony at the renowned Ramlila Maidan at noon on Thursday, where they will take the oath of office and secrecy from L-G Saxena, in the presence of senior BJP officials.

Notable attendees at the oath-taking ceremony will include a diverse group of car drivers, auto drivers, and slum-dwellers.

Details regarding the identity of the new Chief Minister have been kept tightly under wraps, partially due to delays caused by the Prime Minister’s recent trips to France and the United States.

Earlier in the day, the BJP Parliamentary Board convened under PM Modi’s leadership and finalized the appointments of Ravi Shankar Prasad and Om Prakash Dhankhar as the observers for the legislature meeting.

In the recent Assembly elections, the BJP achieved a remarkable victory, winning 48 out of 70 constituencies, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) faced a significant defeat, securing only 22 seats. The Congress failed to make any impact for the third consecutive time.

The delay in the swearing-in of the Delhi Chief Minister has sparked a war of words between AAP and BJP, with AAP claiming that the BJP has 'no face' to lead the government and lacks a credible leader. The BJP has dismissed these allegations.
