BJP Legislature Party Leader to Be Determined Following Discussions with Newly Elected MLAs Today

Mumbai, Dec 4 (NationPress) Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, one of the two BJP observers for the party's Maharashtra legislature meeting, has stated that the name of the legislature party leader will be confirmed on Wednesday after discussions with the newly-elected MLAs in the state.
Rupani, who arrived in Mumbai late Tuesday night for this significant meeting set for Wednesday, mentioned that a single name will be chosen only if there is unanimity.
The BJP has achieved an impressive victory in the November 20 Maharashtra elections, winning 132 out of 288 seats, which marks its best performance in the state to date.
Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is considered the leading candidate for the top position in the new BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP administration.
In a statement to reporters, Rupani remarked, "The government will be established. Discussions with the elected MLAs will occur tomorrow. One name will be formalized and announced later."
He emphasized that the process of determining the leader of the BJP's legislative party adheres to a long-standing tradition within the party.
"This is our method to finalize the name. The leader of the legislature party will be selected, and they will take the oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra the following day," he added.
"If there is unanimity, then only one proposal (name) will be presented," Rupani continued.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who also serves as an observer, will join Rupani in the discussions.
The two leaders will convene with the BJP's elected representatives in the Central Hall of the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan to finalize the leader's name.
The party has announced that the new Chief Minister will take the oath on December 5 at a grand event at Azad Maidan in south Mumbai, which is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union Ministers, party leaders, and Chief Ministers from party-led states.
Special arrangements have been made to host 40,000 BJP supporters and a separate seating area for 2,000 VVIPs, including leaders from various religions, as stated by party officials.
This organized approach ensures a seamless transition and underscores the BJP's dedication to maintaining structure within its ranks. The forthcoming oath ceremony represents a pivotal moment for the party in Maharashtra, showcasing its electoral successes and future governance plans.
