Eknath Shinde Offers Congratulations to Maharashtra's Upcoming CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, Dec 5 (NationPress) A day prior to the inauguration ceremony for the new MahaYuti government scheduled for Thursday, Maharashtra's caretaker Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde extended his congratulations to Devendra Fadnavis, the Chief Minister designate, on his election as the leader of the BJP Legislative Party, sharing his best wishes at Varsha Bungalow in Mumbai.

More than ten days following the remarkable victory of MahaYuti, Fadnavis is set to take the oath of office as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Thursday, with the esteemed presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sources indicate that Eknath Shinde, alongside Ajit Pawar of the NCP, will take the oath as Deputy Chief Ministers in the new cabinet.

The swearing-in ceremony is to be held at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, with attendance expected from numerous NDA Chief Ministers and leaders.

Ending the prolonged uncertainty regarding the top position, Fadnavis, Shinde, and Pawar met with Governor CP Radhakrishnan to assert their claim to form the MahaYuti government.

Following their meeting with the Governor, Fadnavis stated, "The swearing-in ceremony for the new government will occur tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I met with Eknath Shinde and requested his participation in this government, as it aligns with the wishes of the MahaYuti workers...We are committed to fulfilling the promises made to the people of Maharashtra."

In the meantime, Eknath Shinde expressed satisfaction over the accomplishments of the MahaYuti government in Maharashtra during the past two-and-a-half years, ahead of Fadnavis' swearing-in as Chief Minister.

"I am very pleased with the completion of two-and-a-half years. The achievements accomplished by our government—the MahaYuti government—through the collaborative efforts of the three of us and our team over the last 2.5 years are exceptional. They will be commemorated in the pages of history. We take pride in having made such impactful decisions," Shinde remarked.

This will mark Fadnavis' third term in the esteemed position after being unanimously chosen as the leader of the Maharashtra BJP Legislative Party on Wednesday.

The 2024 Maharashtra Assembly Election witnessed a decisive triumph for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led MahaYuti alliance, which achieved a significant win with 235 seats out of 288.

The election results represented a pivotal moment for the BJP, as it emerged as the single-largest party with 132 seats.

Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party also made notable progress, securing 57 and 41 seats, respectively.

Conversely, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) faced a considerable setback, with the Congress managing to win just 16 seats. Its alliance partner, Shiv Sena (UBT), garnered 20 seats, while the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) achieved only 10 seats.
