Maha's Uncertainty Resolved: Fadnavis Appointed New Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Oath Ceremony Scheduled for Thursday

Mumbai, Dec 4 (NationPress) The suspense has finally come to an end after 132 party legislators and five Independents supporting the BJP collectively selected Devendra Fadnavis as the leader of the legislature party on Wednesday. Consequently, he is poised to take his oath for the third time as Maharashtra's Chief Minister at a significant ceremony on Thursday.
The proposal for Fadnavis’ nomination was made by former Ministers Chandrakant Patil and Sudhir Mungantiwar, receiving support from numerous legislators, including Mumbai unit chief Ashish Shelar.
The announcement of Fadnavis’ election was made by the party observer and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was joined by co-observer and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Following the announcement, legislators began chanting slogans such as "Maharashtracha Mukhyamantri Kaisa Ho, Devendra Fadnavis Jaisa Ho".
Strategy unit chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, during his welcome address, expressed gratitude to the 14 crore citizens of Maharashtra for the remarkable support extended to the BJP and Mahayuti in the recently concluded state Assembly elections. "Today marks a historical moment as the leader of the legislature party group will be elected. The Mahayuti government will accelerate the pace of Maharashtra’s development," he stated.
Subsequently, Rupani initiated the election process, inviting legislators to propose and second candidates for the legislature party group leader. Chandrakant Patil and Sudhir Mungantiwar put forth the name of Devendra Fadnavis amid enthusiastic chanting from the legislators. His nomination received backing from several legislators, including Pankaja Munde, Praveen Darekar, Ravindra Chavan, and Meghana Bordikar.
Rupani then inquired if any legislators wished to propose alternative names. When the response was negative, he declared that Fadnavis had been unanimously elected as the legislature party group leader. Fadnavis was congratulated by core committee leaders and senior figures, including party Secretary Shiv Prakash and General Secretary Vinod Tawde.
Earlier, the state core committee convened and unanimously settled on Fadnavis’ name as the leader of the legislature party group.
In her remarks, FM Sitharaman noted that the unexpected and historic mandate in the state legislature aims to advance the Viksit Bharat mission. She expressed her gratitude to the legislators for the unanimous selection of Fadnavis, stating, ‘Ek Hai to Safe Hai’.
She emphasized that a double-engine government at both the Center and state levels will significantly enhance Maharashtra's development. Sitharaman criticized the Congress and opposition governments for hindering the state's progress, asserting that the remarkable mandate has dispelled uncertainty and assured support from the Center to expedite the state's development.
In his address, Fadnavis expressed appreciation to the legislators for his unanimous election as leader of the legislature party. "The election mandate demonstrates that 'Ek Hai to Safe Hai' and 'Modi Hai to Mumkin Hai'. I salute the people of Maharashtra for granting such a significant mandate. I also extend my thanks to caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and leaders from allied parties," he concluded.
