Bengaluru, Nov 21 (NationPress) On Friday, the BJP took aim at the Congress-led government in Karnataka, highlighting the rumored leadership turmoil in the state. They challenged Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, to affirm whether Siddaramaiah will indeed serve as the Chief Minister for the entire term.
During a press briefing at the party headquarters, R. Ashoka, the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, unveiled a poster commemorating the 2.5-year mark of the Siddaramaiah administration, criticizing it for the rising costs of essential goods.
The poster, titled 'Two-and-a-Half Years: A Heavy Burden on Kannadigas – Exposing the Congress Government's Misdeeds', accused the government of being a burden on the populace and a disaster for farmers.
Ashoka claimed that Siddaramaiah has threatened to remove Congress MLAs who traveled to Delhi and also indicated that he would withhold MLA development funds from those legislators.
He commented, "On one hand, D.K. Shivakumar is making trips to Delhi and issuing statements. On the other, Siddaramaiah is questioning the motives of those who visit Delhi. This is just a two-and-a-half-year circus presented by the Congress party," he derided.
Ashoka further characterized the Congress-led administration as hollow and burdensome for the people.
He raised questions about the alleged power-sharing formula within the state government.
In a stark comparison between the Central government and the state leadership, Ashoka remarked, "While Prime Minister Modi has lowered GST rates to allow citizens to consume pure ghee for better health, the Congress government has increased prices even on ghee."
He accused the government of being a leader in price hikes, illegal activities, scams, and excessive borrowing.
"They are leading in driving farmers to despair, pushing contractors to suicide, igniting caste conflicts, and sending maximum funds to Delhi. In just two-and-a-half years, they have excelled in all things negative," he noted.
Ashoka jested, "The very MLAs who supported Siddaramaiah as CM traveled to Delhi to inform Kharge that they no longer support him. Yet, Siddaramaiah asserts there is no dissent or confusion."
