Hyderabad, Nov 14 (NationPress) BJP leaders in Telangana asserted that the Congress party's victory in the Jubilee Hills byelection was facilitated by the support of AIMIM.
BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao highlighted that the Congress is celebrating the triumph attributed to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
He stated, “While we respect the people's decision, it is essential to recognize this as a mandate for AIMIM, not Congress.”
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy emphasized that Congress's win in Jubilee Hills was solely due to AIMIM's backing, which relied on appeasement politics and coercive tactics.
“We will analyze the Jubilee Hills byelection results to enhance our strategy,” he mentioned.
The BJP faced a dismal defeat in the byelection, with its candidate Lankala Deepak Reddy unable to preserve his security deposit.
Congress candidate V. Naveen Yadav emerged victorious, outpacing his closest competitor Maganti Sunitha from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) by nearly 25,000 votes.
Naveen Yadav received 98,988 votes, while Sunitha garnered 74,259 votes. The BJP’s Deepak Reddy trailed significantly with only 17,061 votes.
By securing 50.83% of the votes, the Congress party reclaimed the seat from BRS, which received 38.13%, while the BJP managed a mere 8.76%.
This outcome was a personal disappointment for Kishan Reddy in his Lok Sabha constituency of Secunderabad.
The Union Minister for Coal and Mines spearheaded the campaign, with notable contributions from Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar and other BJP MPs from the state.
Ramchander Rao noted that party workers exerted significant effort in Jubilee Hills, despite the constituency's challenges. He recalled that even in 2009, the BJP did not achieve a majority there when Bandaru Dattatreya contested from Secunderabad.
He reminisced that the TDP-BJP alliance won in 2014, but the BRS clinched the seat in 2018 with AIMIM's support.
The BJP president mentioned that Naveen Yadav, who won the byelection for Congress, had previously contested as an AIMIM candidate in the same constituency.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders celebrated the NDA’s success in the Bihar elections. “The people of Bihar have granted a historic mandate to the NDA, rejecting the return of 'Jungle Raj' and reaffirming their confidence in development and effective governance,” Kishan Reddy shared on ‘X’.
He asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state allies, Bihar has witnessed significant advancements in infrastructure, welfare, law enforcement, and economic progress.
MoS Bandi Sanjay stated that Bihar has provided the NDA a strong mandate, signaling continued public trust in Prime Minister Modi's leadership.
