Hyderabad, Oct 19 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), referred to the upcoming by-election in Jubilee Hills Assembly as a significant referendum on the performance of the Congress government regarding administration, law and order, and credibility.
He claimed that in the last two years, the Congress administration has hindered crucial development projects while imposing what he termed “bulldozer politics” on the citizens.
KTR, widely recognized as the BRS leader, called upon voters to dismiss Congress’s performative antics and recall the “420 guarantees” that misled the populace.
He cautioned that if Congress were to secure the Jubilee Hills seat, it would only strengthen the government’s resolve to reverse all welfare and development initiatives established during the previous BRS administration. “Only a defeat for Congress will compel it to consider even a fraction of its electoral promises,” he asserted during a meeting at the BRS headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, where he welcomed several leaders from other political parties into the BRS.
The former minister criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s governance, describing it as an era of “bulldozer governance” and administrative chaos. He stated that the Congress government has failed to deliver any programs focused on the people, instead relying solely on publicity and self-aggrandizement.
“Since Congress took power, progress in Hyderabad and overall development in Telangana have come to a halt. This stagnation is the outcome of irresponsible governance and misguided priorities,” he remarked.
Regarding the reservation for Backward Classes (BCs), KTR accused Congress of betraying these communities with what he considered ill-thought-out and legally untenable measures.
“Without adequate constitutional preparation, Congress made empty announcements that were subsequently nullified by the courts. If Congress and the BJP genuinely care about empowering Backward Classes, they should push their MPs to advocate for a Bill in Parliament to amend the Constitution. Street performances in Telangana will not accomplish anything,” KTR stated.
He pledged that the BRS would fully support any sincere endeavor by national parties in the Rajya Sabha to secure 42 percent reservations for Backward Classes through constitutional means.
Touching on recent scandals involving ministers, KTR expressed that Congress's cabinet has devolved into a battleground for commissions and internal conflicts.
“From Medaram Jatara projects to contract allocations and bill approvals, Congress ministers are only concerned with personal benefits. Despite grave corruption allegations, neither the Chief Minister nor his cabinet members have addressed the issues. When ministers squabble over commissions in cabinet meetings, who is left to manage the state?” he questioned.
KTR also condemned the Congress government's neglect of the Airport Metro Express and Metro Phase-II projects, arguing that the Chief Minister has “doused” the future of Hyderabad. “Rather than enhancing public transport and promoting sustainable growth, Revanth Reddy is misappropriating public funds for his so-called ‘Future City’ project—an initiative merely aimed at inflating land values owned by Congress leaders,” he claimed.
Highlighting the escalating dissatisfaction among various sectors, KTR stated, “Every segment of society—workers, farmers, traders, and women—has suffered under this administration. The time has come for the public to convey a strong message. The Jubilee Hills by-election must serve as the initial corrective action,” he concluded.
