Chandigarh, March 31 (NationPress) Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar has expressed strong disapproval regarding the recent vandalism of the statue of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar in Hoshiarpur district and has called for swift action from the state government.

Jakhar urged the citizens of Punjab to stay alert against forces that could sow division and emphasized the importance of maintaining communal harmony.

He pointed out that there are external forces attempting to disrupt peace in the state, even targeting police stations. He lamented that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has not taken effective measures to counter these threats.

In a social media post, he stated: “The Bharatiya Janata Party vehemently condemns the attack on the statue of Baba Saheb Ambedkar in Hoshiarpur district. Such actions highlight the governance failures in Punjab, with police stations also being targeted.”

“Outside elements are trying to instigate hatred within Punjab, while the state government seems unable to respond adequately. Attempts to create societal divisions will ultimately fail, but the government must assume its responsibilities. We urge all Punjabis to be vigilant against such divisive forces and to uphold brotherhood.”

Furthermore, Jakhar remarked that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann should prioritize the state’s situation rather than seeking approval from his leaders in Delhi.

He suggested that the Chief Minister should focus on enhancing law and order in Punjab instead of embarking on tours to other states as a “pilot” for his party.

Meanwhile, the President of the BJP’s Scheduled Caste Morcha, Paramjit Singh Kainth, stated that the recurring incidents of desecration and vandalism of Ambedkar’s statues are alarming and raise significant concerns about the law and order situation in the state.

The most recent incident took place in village Noorpur Jattan under the Garhshankar subdivision in Hoshiarpur.

Kainth added, “This clearly shows that under Bhagwant Mann's leadership, the Aam Aadmi Party government has failed to safeguard the dignity of our national icons and to maintain social harmony.”
