Is BJP Worried About the Deteriorating Law and Order in Punjab?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Dec 7 (NationPress) The President of Punjab BJP, Sunil Jakhar, raised alarms on Sunday regarding the ongoing decline in the law and order situation within the state. He asserted that only the BJP possesses the determination and ability to manage the corrupt elements embedded in the police force.
"Should we be given the chance, these uniformed extortionists would face stringent action, leading to the restoration of peace in the state," Jakhar communicated to the press.
He pointed out that on November 7 in Tarn Taran, AAP's national Convenor Arvind Kejriwal had issued a warning to gangsters to vacate Punjab within a week or confront repercussions.
"Instead of retreating, the gangsters have boldly accepted his challenge and are committing crimes daily, while Kejriwal has not been seen in Punjab since that day," he remarked.
Jakhar shared an alarming list of crime incidents from the past month, noting that there hasn't been a day without significant criminal activities led by gangsters.
He questioned, "How can this happen with Punjab having 17 officers of DGP rank and 13 ADGP rank? In contrast, Haryana only has one DGP."
Jakhar criticized the ruling party, claiming that after the 'failure' of the Land Pooling Policy, the police have been deployed for illegal extortion.
He accused the police of succumbing to the ruling party's influence and participating in undemocratic actions, such as aiding AAP leaders in electoral fraud and coercing residents for unlawful monetary collections.
Referring to an instance where gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's interview was conducted from prison, Jakhar noted that the Director General of Police (DGP) had submitted a statement in the High Court asserting that the interview didn't occur in Punjab.
"However, an inquiry supervised by the High Court has confirmed that it did indeed take place in Punjab," Jakhar added.
In the recent viral audio case involving Patiala's SSP, Jakhar pointed out that the police hastily labeled the audio as AI-generated within two hours, without conducting an investigation, and instead summoned journalists and political figures.
He deemed this situation alarming for both the media and political entities, asserting that there should have been an unbiased investigation first; however, the police have become a tool for the government.
He called for all political factions and media organizations to unite against this injustice.
