Bhopal, April 10 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh BJP launched a fierce assault on Congress on Thursday, asserting that the party’s criticisms of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) stem from a widespread rejection by the public across the nation.
During the party's event in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Wednesday, Congress attributed its electoral losses, including the recent Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh in 2023, to EVMs.
Responding to Congress, MP BJP president V. D. Sharma stated that questioning the integrity of EVMs and the Election Commission (EC) highlights Congress’s exasperation with its ongoing electoral defeats.
He remarked that the Supreme Court’s ruling on the matter is a reality that Congress refuses to accept.
“Congress leaders referenced the electoral processes in other nations, yet they lack faith in India’s electoral framework, which is recognized and lauded globally. Historically, Congress has employed a divide-and-rule strategy to seize power,” Sharma remarked to the press in Bhopal.
He noted that senior Congress figures, including Kamal Nath and Mallikarjun Kharge, who have been successful in various elections, are now casting doubt on the EVMs.
“They are doing this because they realize they cannot prevail against the BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he added.
Simultaneously, BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma declared that Congress will never be able to contend with the Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the future.
“During Congress's rule, RSS members faced persecution and incarceration without cause. The events of the Emergency declared by Indira Gandhi are well-known. Yet, the RSS emerged victorious against them (Congress). Rahul Gandhi or Jitu Patwari will not succeed against the BJP or the RSS,” he asserted.
Former Protem Speaker and current MLA from Bhopal, Sharma was addressing Jitu Patwari’s comment suggesting that Congress leaders should criticize the RSS more vigorously.
At the national convention that concluded in Ahmedabad, Patwari mentioned that Congress leaders who shy away from denouncing the RSS cannot challenge Prime Minister Modi and the BJP.
He further stated that the RSS operates as a political entity and called upon Congress leaders and activists to commit to confronting the organization robustly.
“The RSS functions as a social and cultural body. When PM Modi enacted ‘note-bandi’, the RSS remained mute. This indicates that the BJP and RSS are intertwined. Congress leaders and workers should confront them in a similarly vigorous manner,” Patwari had stated.
