Hyderabad, Dec 12 (NationPress) Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav claimed on Friday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is engaged in a scheme to remove three crore names from the voter list in Uttar Pradesh under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
In a press briefing, Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP and the Election Commission of colluding to eliminate votes in areas where the BJP has faced defeat.
"This is not SIR. This is NRC disguised as SIR. They could not implement NRC directly and are now doing it indirectly. They are requiring people to provide documentation, which is the same as what is demanded during NRC implementation," he stated.
Akhilesh Yadav criticized the rejection of Aadhaar as a form of identification, labeling it as unfortunate.
He expressed that the public is anxious due to the SIR process.
"First, they troubled citizens with demonetization, then burdened traders with GST, and now they are creating issues with SIR," he remarked.
The SP President expressed optimism about political changes in Telangana, asserting that the public will support the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) if the party maintains a close relationship with them.
He emphasized that parties that sincerely champion the people's interests naturally earn their trust.
Akhilesh Yadav met with BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao and later noted that fluctuations in politics are common.
"At times, the public endorses us; other times, they offer us a chance to self-reflect," he said, alluding to the BRS's recent electoral defeat in 2023.
He recalled a period when the SP was limited to a handful of seats but remained engaged with the public.
"The public supported us, and today, the BJP ranks second there," he added.
The SP leader pointed out that predicting public support is challenging.
He is hopeful for a turnaround.
"The nation needs to advance with a clear vision. The politics of division must cease. We should foster positivity and focus on progress. We will persist in this endeavor," he stated.
KCR and KTR are our allies. I have stood by them and will continue to do so," he responded to another question.
K.T. Rama Rao remarked that Akhilesh Yadav's leadership, despite a loss in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections yet achieving notable success in the recent Lok Sabha elections, serves as an inspiration for the BRS.
He expressed confidence that the BRS would similarly recover and regain power in Telangana.
KTR noted that party leaders had discussions with Akhilesh Yadav on various topics and mentioned that he would meet KCR again during his forthcoming visit to Hyderabad.
Akhilesh Yadav also paid a visit to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at his residence in Jubilee Hills, which was described as a courtesy call.
They discussed the current political climate.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy informed Akhilesh Yadav about the developmental and welfare initiatives being pursued by the Congress government in Telangana.
Akhilesh Yadav commended CM Revanth Reddy for the decision to recognize Sadar, a prominent festival of the Yadavs, as a state government festival.
He stated that the Yadav community across the nation will always remember CM Revanth Reddy.
Akhilesh noted that Revanth Reddy will hold a special place in the hearts of the Yadavs.
He expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for providing significant political recognition to the Yadav community in Telangana.
