Bengaluru, April 1 (NationPress) The BJP has charged the Karnataka government with levying taxes on everything except the air citizens breathe.

In a media interaction on Tuesday in Bengaluru, BJP state President and MLA, B.Y. Vijayendra, addressed queries regarding the party's strategy to initiate a series of protests against the state government concerning various issues including rising prices, the Muslim quota, and more.

Vijayendra announced that the BJP has planned two significant protests.

"Just yesterday, senior party leaders convened and resolved to proceed with these protests. Since Siddaramaiah took office as Chief Minister, his administration has only assured price increases for the populace over the past 20 months. The government's measures have severely impacted the average citizen," he stated.

He accused the Congress-led administration of making life difficult for everyday people by escalating costs for milk, electricity, water, petrol, diesel, stamp duty, and metro fares, claiming that the government persistently enforces price surges.

"To voice our dissent against price escalations and the state government's strategies, we will organize an overnight protest on April 2 at 11 am in Freedom Park. All BJP MLAs, MLCs, former MLAs, former MLCs, candidates from the Assembly elections, state office bearers, district leaders, and party members will take part in this grand protest," he added.

Further criticizing the government, Vijayendra claimed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently allocated a 4 percent reservation for Muslims in government initiatives, which he deemed unconstitutional and an affront to Hindus.

He also asserted that the state government had rerouted Rs 38,000 crore earmarked for the social and educational advancement of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) to finance other welfare programs.

He described this action as unfair to marginalized and underprivileged communities.

To contest these matters, the BJP will initiate a ‘Janakrosha Yatra (People’s Anger March)' starting from Mysuru on April 7, traversing all districts.

The yatra will kick off from Chamundi Hill in Mysuru after paying homage to Goddess Chamundeshwari, and the protest will be led by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.

When questioned about remarks made by BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, Vijayendra dismissed them, stating, "Yatnal is entitled to express his accusations and criticisms. I am unconcerned by them."

During the celebration of Dr. Shivakumara Swamiji’s birth anniversary, Vijayendra remarked that devotees statewide and nationwide were commemorating the occasion.

He concluded, "We honor Swamiji’s legacy by adhering to the virtuous path he illuminated for us."
