Bagalkote, April 17 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP criticized the state government on Thursday for its alleged disrespect towards Hindus, the predominant community in Karnataka. The party questioned the Congress-led government, asking, “Why are you insulting Hindus?”.
“They offer Rs 50,000 to Muslim girls for marriage and Rs 30 lakh for the overseas education of Muslim youth. Why are impoverished Hindus left out of these benefits? Why the disrespect towards Hindus?”
said BJP state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra during the Janakrosh Yatra in Bagalkote city, located in northern Karnataka.Numerous party members and leaders joined the protest march. The BJP is conducting state-wide demonstrations against the Karnataka government concerning alleged price hikes and the Muslim quota in government contracts.
Vijayendra further questioned whether the Chief Minister has alleviated the suffering of the poor, Dalits, and farmers?
He also condemned the 4 percent government reservation for Muslims and asked, “Whose funds are these? Are there no impoverished Hindus?”
He claimed that during Siddaramaiah’s leadership, there has been an increase in farmer suicides, more incidents of Hindu women facing humiliation, and a rise in love jihad and cow slaughter incidents.
Vijayendra compared the governance of the past with the present, noting that under the BJP government led by B.S. Yediyurappa, farmers could obtain a transformer for their fields for just Rs 25,000.
“However, under Siddaramaiah’s so-called pro-farmer government, they now have to pay between Rs 2.5 to Rs 3 lakh. Didn’t you fan the flames in the name of the Veerashaiva community back then? Is this the legacy you want the people of Karnataka to remember you for?”
According to him, the Congress party came to power pledging development and inclusive growth, but under Siddaramaiah, the administration has shown itself to be anti-people, anti-farmer, and anti-Hindu.
He accused the Karnataka government of increasing prices on over 50 essential items, misappropriating Rs 38,000 crore designated for Scheduled Castes and Tribes, and worsening the appeasement of minorities.
Jagadish Shettar, former Chief Minister and MP, stated that the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam will eventually catch up to Siddaramaiah.
“The time bomb set by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will detonate in November or December, leading to the government’s downfall. There is public outrage due to rampant corruption and soaring prices. People have resolved to send Siddaramaiah home and restore BJP to power,” he asserted.
Chalawadi Narayanaswamy, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, mentioned that without the BJP government previously in power, there would not have been a declaration of internal reservations.
“Because they branded our administration as a 40 percent commission government and seized power, we are upset with them. Dalits have fallen victim to Siddaramaiah’s deception,” he remarked.
Govind Karjol, former Deputy Chief Minister and MP, argued that this is a government devoid of development, plagued by corruption.
P.C. Gaddigoudar, BJP MP, also asserted that the Karnataka government under Siddaramaiah has entirely failed in governance.
Former Minister B. Sriramulu noted that discussions are ongoing regarding the caste census, highlighting that the public is also discussing the Congress government's corruption and commission rates.
