Mumbai, Nov 15 (NationPress) Several prominent Indian cricketers, such as Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, K.L. Rahul, M.S. Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh, have been retained by their respective franchises as the trade window concluded. Meanwhile, renowned players like Andre Russell, Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis, Adam Zampa, and Davis Miller were let go, paving the way for the upcoming mini-auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

The most significant trade involved Sanju Samson, the captain and wicketkeeper of Rajasthan Royals, moving to the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings, in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. Additionally, Mohammed Shami, celebrated for his performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup, was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants in other key transactions.

The player retention period for the IPL 2026 season wrapped up on Saturday, with all 10 franchises announcing their retained players ahead of the auction.

A total of 173 players have been retained across teams, which includes 49 overseas players. The franchises will have a combined purse of ₹237.55 crore available at the auction to fill 77 player slots.

Among the franchises, Punjab Kings retained the highest number of players at 21, followed by Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans, each retaining 20 players.

Kolkata Knight Riders retained the fewest players with 12, while Sunrisers Hyderabad held onto 15 players. The five-time champions Chennai Super Kings retained just 17 players, including 4 overseas, while Delhi Capitals also retained 17 (including 3 overseas).

The IPL Player Auction is set to take place on December 16 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

As the auction approaches, Kolkata Knight Riders will have the largest purse of ₹64.3 crore to fill 13 slots, with 6 overseasChennai Super Kings will follow with ₹43.4 crore for a maximum of 9 available slots.
