Bengaluru, April 2 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP initiated a nighttime protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Wednesday against the rising prices and the Congress government's choice to allocate 4 percent reservation for Muslims in government contracts.
During the protest, BJP leaders adorned the statue of B.R. Ambedkar with garlands and commenced their demonstration.
The event saw participation from numerous senior BJP figures, such as former Chief Minister and BJP Parliamentary Board member B.S. Yediyurappa, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, former Deputy Chief Minister Ashwath Narayan, and senior leaders C.T. Ravi and B. Sriramulu, along with other notable members, including BJP Legislative Council Chief Whip N. Ravikumar, former ministers, MLAs, MLCs, defeated candidates, district BJP presidents, and key office bearers.
The BJP representatives showcased milk cans adorned with slogans against the Congress-led administration. Additionally, they issued a charge sheet against the ruling party in a five-page booklet format. They also displayed posters targeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, condemning the government regarding the Muslim quota in government contracts.
BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra launched a fierce critique of the Congress government, asserting that it is a regime that ensures price increases.
"They promote themselves as a government that fulfills its promises, yet this is not a compassionate government,” he stated.
Vijayendra urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to leave his air-conditioned office, stating, "You are not merely the Chief Minister of Bengaluru. Travel across the state with your ministers to districts like Raichur, Koppal, and Belagavi," he insisted.
He highlighted the soaring prices of seeds and questioned whether citizens were satisfied under the Congress government.
"Women receive Rs 2,000 and free electricity through various schemes, but these commitments have not been effectively executed. This government is merely burdening the populace with price increases," he alleged.
Vijayendra criticized the government for the surge in essential goods prices. "Low-income individuals, farmers, and the common people are struggling to make ends meet. Petrol, diesel, milk, and even government hospital fees have escalated. Just yesterday, diesel prices rose by Rs 2, which will further inflate the costs of essential commodities," he noted.
Vijayendra announced that the BJP would commence a "Janaakrosha Yatra" (Public Anger March) starting April 7, with an inauguration led by Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi.
He accused the Congress government of unlawfully allocating 4 percent reservation for Muslims in government contracts while misappropriating funds designated for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes under the SCP and TSP schemes.
State BJP Co-In-Charge Sudhakar Reddy also condemned the Congress government, labeling it a corrupt administration. "This is a government that ensures corruption," he asserted.
He confidently stated that the BJP government would soon reclaim power in Karnataka.
"Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar falsely accused the BJP of demanding a 40 percent commission. They should resign for their unfounded accusations," he demanded.
Reddy commended the BJP-led central government for honoring B.R. Ambedkar and the Constitution.
Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka mocked Siddaramaiah, referring to him as "Nidderamaiah" (one who loves to sleep). "People call him ‘Manehaala Siddaramaiah’ (one who wishes ill). For the citizens of Karnataka, this Congress government is already finished," he proclaimed.
BJP leaders Vijayendra, Ashoka, and MLC C.T. Ravi also attempted to play musical instruments at the protest site.
