Chennai, April 1 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson and senior member ANS Prasad has condemned the recent remarks made by DMK MP A. Raja, labeling them as deeply offensive, as they seek to undermine the spiritual beliefs and practices of the Tamil populace, intentionally fostering division among communities.
He stated that Raja's remarks are not only damaging but also divisive, with the intent of polarizing individuals along communal lines. The senior BJP official remarked, “By claiming that donning a sacred mark (pottu) and wearing a rosary (kayiru) are traits of 'sanghis' (a term used to describe right-wing Hindus), Raja is blatantly misrepresenting Hindu traditions and practices. His assertion is a serious distortion of the Hindu community's beliefs and values.”
Prasad further emphasized that Raja's comments are an affront to the democratic values of the country, which ensure the freedom to practice one’s religion without fear of backlash or mockery. His statements exemplify hate speech aimed at disparaging a specific community and its beliefs, according to ANS Prasad. The BJP leader urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to take swift action against Raja's ‘inflammatory’ remarks.
Stalin’s family, including his wife Durga Stalin, are recognized as devout Hindus, making it crucial for them to denounce Raja's statements and provide assurances to the Hindu community that their beliefs will be honored and safeguarded, Prasad asserted.
He noted that the DMK leadership has repeatedly shown a lack of understanding and respect for Hindu traditions and practices, evident in their attempts to undermine Hindu festivals, customs, and institutions. The DMK’s anti-Hindu stance represents a danger to the social fabric of Tamil Nadu, according to the BJP leader.
ANS Prasad stressed the importance of the state's residents rejecting such divisive politics, demanding that their leaders uphold and protect the rights of all communities. “We must advocate for respect, tolerance, and mutual understanding, instead of hatred and division,” the BJP leader insisted.
Prasad reiterated that Raja's behavior is a blatant example of hate speech, aimed at undermining a specific community and its beliefs. It is crucial for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to take immediate measures against Raja's inflammatory remarks, he urged.
The BJP leader asserted that Stalin must condemn Raja's statements and reassure the Hindu community that their beliefs will be upheld and protected.
ANS Prasad noted, “Moreover, Raja's actions threaten the social fabric of Tamil Nadu, fostering a culture of intolerance and animosity. It is imperative for the people of Tamil Nadu to reject such divisive politics and demand that their leaders respect and safeguard the rights of all communities.”
Raja's presence in Tamil Nadu poses a threat to the state's peace and harmony, and he should be expelled from the state immediately. Moreover, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin must remove Raja from the DMK party without delay, he concluded.
