Chandigarh, April 23 (NationPress) The BJP has condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a shameful act against humanity and a direct threat to the region's progress.

Punjab BJP in-charge and former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, stated, "This cowardly act has ignited widespread anger across the nation," asserting that the attackers will face consequences that will deter future generations from contemplating such malevolence towards India.

BJP activists, led by Rupani, organized a protest march in Chandigarh, the shared capital of Punjab and Haryana, to express their outrage over the tragic killing of at least 26 tourists on Tuesday when gunmen indiscriminately fired at innocent civilians in Baisaran, Jammu and Kashmir.

Eyewitnesses reported that a group of heavily armed militants emerged from the surrounding forests and opened fire on civilians, primarily targeting tourists.

During the protest, Rupani highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, significant advancements have been made towards peace and development in Kashmir. "The airstrike following the Pulwama attack shattered the backbone of terrorism in the area, leading to an unprecedented influx of tourists, enhanced job prospects for locals, and a return to normalcy," he noted.

He emphasized that this assault is not merely the killing of innocent individuals but also a direct attack on Kashmir’s peace, trade, and tourism, jeopardizing the stability of daily life in the region. The BJP expressed confidence that both Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah possess the capability to respond to such attacks with strength and determination.

The party has also urged the Punjab government to maintain a state of high alert due to the extensive border with Pakistan. As part of the demonstration, BJP workers and leaders marched from the BJP office in Sector 37, concluding the protest by burning an effigy of Pakistan at the Sector 25 chowk.
