New Delhi, Aug 8 (NationPress) The BJP on Friday categorically dismissed the allegations put forth by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who claimed on Thursday that the Election Commission was in collusion with the BJP to manufacture over one lakh fake votes in Karnataka's Mahadevapura Assembly segment.
A number of BJP officials have since expressed their doubts regarding the foundation and motives behind Gandhi's claims, labeling them as “vague,” “baseless,” and “politically motivated.”
In an interview with IANS, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash remarked, “If there’s anyone running a factory of lies, it’s Rahul Gandhi. The Congress party has made spreading confusion a habit.”
Similarly, BJP MP Ravi Kishan questioned the Congress party’s inconsistent faith in the electoral process.
“The Congress should first explain how they triumphed wherever they formed the government. They don’t dispute the system when they win but question the Constitution and Election Commission when they face defeat,” he stated.
Senior BJP leader and MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy challenged the Congress to provide concrete evidence. “Currently, it’s hard to ascertain which voters will back which candidates. If valid voters who wish to remain on the list are removed, that’s a serious issue. Rahul Gandhi should present the names of those voters he alleges were removed, along with proof, to the Election Commission. So far, no evidence has been provided for any voter whose name has been added or removed,” Rudy told IANS.
BJP MP Jagadish Shettar dismissed the allegations as mere theatrics. “Rahul Gandhi is unnecessarily creating a fuss, making vague allegations against PM Modi. This is completely misguided. The other day, he displayed a bundle of papers. Why hasn’t he submitted those to the Election Commission? Why hasn’t he challenged it in court?”
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Samik Bhattacharya added a sharp personal critique, stating, “Rahul Gandhi and his party leaders are not taken seriously. What can be done? It’s all about family matters there. If Congress wants to advance, they must bow to that family; that’s how it operates.”
On August 7, LoP Gandhi alleged that 100,250 fake votes were created in the Mahadevapura Assembly seat under the Bangalore Central Lok Sabha constituency, branding it as part of a BJP-led scheme to hijack the election.
The Election Commission has refuted these claims and requested concrete evidence. Nevertheless, the Opposition continues to urge the Commission to clarify whether the data presented by LoP Gandhi was sourced from its official platforms.
