New Delhi, Jan 1 (NationPress) Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee has stirred a political uproar by asserting that the Opposition must engage in ground-level battles instead of limiting their efforts to media and social media channels, referencing electoral failures in Haryana, Delhi, Maharashtra, and Bihar.

In response to his statements, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a fierce critique against the Opposition parties, many of which had previously showcased unity through an alliance during the Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP contended that various political factions are now attempting to distance themselves from the Congress, declaring that the historic party has become a “liability” for its partners.

This controversy emerges as Banerjee escalated his accusations of “vote theft” against the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday.

“The nation should unite; every party must confront vote theft. This is why the Opposition faltered in Haryana, Delhi, Maharashtra, and Bihar: the electorate desired to support them,” Banerjee expressed.

He emphasized the necessity for a revamped strategy by the Opposition, stating, “The Opposition must struggle not through media or social media, but on the ground. The people are watching. If a genuine fight is staged, the BJP will not prevail, as it will ultimately be the public who decides.”

Capitalizing on Banerjee’s statements, the BJP launched a vigorous offensive against the Opposition, asserting that there is a lack of clarity and unity within the INDIA bloc.

In a conversation with IANS, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla remarked, “The new year may have arrived, but the issues and chaos within the INDIA bloc persist. There is no definite mission or vision, only confusion and division. Abhishek Banerjee has now begun directly criticizing Congress, questioning the party itself.”

Poonawalla further stated, “This is not exclusive to Trinamool; in Kerala, the Left is also scrutinizing Congress, and the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar has similarly blamed Congress for its losses. Congress is a political burden, and thus its allies are attempting to sever ties.”

BJP National Spokesperson R.P. Singh also conveyed to IANS that the Opposition coalition lacks substance.

“There is no doubt that the so-called INDIA bloc is not a real alliance. It existed solely for the Lok Sabha elections. Currently, every individual wants to distance themselves from Congress—be it Omar Abdullah, Stalin, or Abhishek Banerjee—everyone,” he stated.

BJP National Spokesperson Rohan Gupta also seized the moment to criticize the INDIA bloc and its “failed attempts to safeguard their politics.”

“They always unite for their own advantage, but when faced with defeat, the alliance disintegrates, whether it’s Congress-AAP or now Congress-Trinamool. The truth is that whether it’s Trinamool or Congress, they have lost public confidence and are now making unsuccessful attempts to salvage their political relevance,” he told IANS.
