New Delhi, Jan 28 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday launched a fierce critique against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal over the ‘Sheeshmahal’ issue and directed harsh words towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), holding both parties accountable for the dire conditions faced by the residents of the city.
As part of the Congress campaign leading up to the Assembly elections, Rahul criticized the ruling AAP for permitting corruption and scams during its governance and accused the BJP of polluting the electoral environment with its communal narratives.
Speaking at his inaugural campaign rally in the Patparganj constituency, Rahul targeted AAP—an essential member of the INDIA Bloc—and mocked its leader regarding the lavish spending on ‘Sheeshmahal’.
“Arvind Kejriwal came with the Aam Aadmi agenda and promised a transformation in political norms. He vowed to bring forth transparent governance, yet the largest corruption scandals have emerged under his administration,” he stated, referencing the Delhi liquor scam and ‘Sheeshmahal’ as stark illustrations of significant corruption under AAP leadership.
“Kejriwal preached simplicity and ethical standards, yet today, he resides in ‘Sheeshmahal’,” he remarked, inciting strong reactions from the audience.
Rahul also did not hold back in criticizing the BJP, accusing the party and its ideologue RSS of fostering hatred and animosity among communities for electoral advantage.
“The BJP aimed to alter the Constitution and has boasted about it during election campaigns. Its call for ‘400 paar’ was merely a strategy to execute this perilous plan,” he asserted.
Further referencing RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s claim that India would achieve ‘true’ Independence post the Modi era, Rahul contended that the BJP was openly disrespecting and demeaning the Constitution and B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of this esteemed document.
Continuing his assault on the Modi administration, Rahul asserted that the BJP-led Central government was exploiting citizens’ hard-earned income while forgiving bad debts of large corporations, urging people to vote for Congress to cease these practices.
“The BJP seeks to make this nation a territory for a handful of billionaires, limiting the country’s resources to a select few, but the Congress will not endure such oligarchic rule. Once in power, we intend to implement a caste census and guarantee that all sections and communities receive their just entitlements,” he informed the audience.
Earlier, Rahul visited the Maharishi Valmiki temple in the city, interacting with local residents to understand their concerns.
He also engaged with constituents in Sandeep Dikshit’s Assembly area, appealing for their support for Congress.
“Our goal is to eliminate corruption from the city and ensure a joyful and secure life for all residents,” the Congress MP stated to the crowd.
