New Delhi, Jan 14 (NationPress) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar sharply criticized the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday. She accused him of participating in elections to “save Congress”, while his “arrogance” has consistently led to his defeats. Kakkar claimed that he is adopting the BJP's tactic of attacking the AAP with insults.
While speaking to IANS, Kakkar noted, “Rahul Gandhi has copied the BJP's approach of targeting the AAP with abuses. His latest speech lacked substance and was fueled by arrogance. This very arrogance has resulted in his losses in Maharashtra, Haryana, and various elections over the last decade.”
This statement from Kakkar came after LoP Rahul Gandhi criticized AAP National Convenor and former Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, during his initial public rally for the Assembly elections.
Rahul Gandhi accused Kejriwal of neglecting pollution and inflation in the national capital, despite his promises to turn Delhi into a corruption-free city akin to Paris.
“Arvind Kejriwal claimed he would clean Delhi, eradicate corruption, and make it resemble Paris. However, today, Delhi faces issues of pollution, corruption, and soaring inflation,” stated the LoP at his rally.
In reaction, Kakkar asserted, “The citizens of Delhi can tell the difference between an arrogant party and one that hurls insults. They want a positive vision for their capital, which is why they choose AAP. While Rahul Gandhi is focused on saving Congress, Arvind Kejriwal is dedicated to saving the nation.”
Kakkar also criticized the Delhi BJP concerning allegations against Chief Minister Atishi and other AAP leaders for misusing government vehicles for personal campaigning. This follows an FIR filed by the Kalkaji District Election Officer (DEO) regarding a PWD van that was seen carrying posters of the Chief Minister.
She called for fairness, highlighting that BJP candidate Parvesh Verma was publicly organizing distribution camps without facing any repercussions.
“The Election Commission should disclose the FIR first. It is ironic that the EC ignores Parvesh Verma's tweets announcing his distribution camps, where he is reportedly handing out ₹1,100 in cash. Furthermore, he is residing in a bungalow to which he is not entitled as he holds no official position,” Kakkar demanded, urging for an unbiased investigation.
Regarding the BJP's chief ministerial candidate for Delhi, Kakkar quipped, “Previously, we heard that Ramesh Bidhuri was their CM candidate. But after Kejriwal challenged him to a debate and questioned his accomplishments as an MP, the BJP appeared to have abandoned him.”
“The BJP should clarify who they are presenting as their CM candidate,” she concluded.
