Koppal (Karnataka), Oct 8 (NationPress) - In a shocking incident, a BJP leader was brutally murdered by a group in the Gangavathi region of Koppal district during the early hours of Wednesday. The victim has been identified as Venkatesha Kurubara, aged 31, who served as the president of the Gangavathi town BJP Yuva Morcha.
Initial investigations by the police suggest that the motive behind this heinous crime was personal rivalry. Authorities are continuing their inquiries into the case.
Reports indicate that Venkatesha was attacked in front of Leelavathi Hospital on Koppal Road around 2 a.m. The assailants, who arrived in a vehicle, targeted Venkatesha while he was riding his bike home after a dinner gathering with friends at Devi Camp. They pursued him, collided with his bike, and then viciously attacked him before fleeing the scene.
Eyewitnesses, including friends of the victim, informed police that a gang of approximately seven to eight individuals assaulted Venkatesha with various weapons, leading to his tragic death. During the investigation, law enforcement officials recovered the vehicle used in the attack from HRS Colony in Gangavathi.
Venkatesha's family and friends have pointed fingers at a local resident named Ravi, alleging that the two have had ongoing rivalries for the past seven to eight years, often clashing over leadership disputes in the Gangavathi area.
Further details regarding this incident are still unfolding.
In a separate event earlier, a 40-year-old BJP worker tragically took his own life at an office in Nagavara, Bengaluru, on April 3. The deceased, Vinay Somaiah, had reportedly sent a WhatsApp message before his passing, which the BJP Karnataka unit shared on social media, accusing Congress leaders of misconduct. He claimed to have faced harassment through police cases instigated by Congress leaders.
The BJP has expressed outrage over these incidents, with state President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra calling for a thorough investigation to ensure those responsible for the BJP worker's demise are held accountable.
