Patna, June 30 (NationPress) Leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have expressed strong disapproval of Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition and member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), following his controversial statement suggesting that if the Mahagathbandhan coalition were to assume power in Bihar, he would "dispose of the Waqf Act".
In response, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary remarked, "It is unrealistic to anticipate anything constructive from the RJD and Tejashwi Yadav. Their legacy includes tearing apart important Bills. Historically, during the tenure of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1998-99, RJD members destroyed the Women's Reservation Bill. Now, Tejashwi Yadav speaks of discarding the Waqf Act if he gains power, which does not surprise us at all."
Additionally, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey condemned Tejashwi Yadav's comments, suggesting they demonstrate a lack of respect for the Indian Constitution.
"These individuals do not uphold the Constitution crafted by B.R. Ambedkar. RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav once permitted Baba Saheb's image to be placed at his feet, yet his son now proposes to discard a law enacted by Parliament. The Parliament represents the largest public assembly in the nation, operating under Baba Saheb's Constitution. When a Bill is passed by Parliament, it reflects the Constitution's approval, and yet he talks about disregarding it. What kind of mindset is that? They clearly lack respect for the Constitution," Pandey stated while addressing the media after a Jan Samvad event at the state BJP office in Patna on Monday.
Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh, another senior BJP figure, criticized Tejashwi Yadav, labeling him a "Namazwadi" leader rather than a "Samajwadi".
"RJD leaders have never embodied socialist values. Lalu Prasad Yadav's son does not adhere to socialism; he merely serves as a Namazwadi leader. In the near future, leaders like him will appear, aiming to appease one community while ultimately satisfying none," Singh expressed.
Tejashwi Yadav's comments were made during the "Waqf Bachao, Samvidhan Bachao" rally held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Sunday.
