New Delhi, June 7 (NationPress) In reaction to Rahul Gandhi’s bold criticism of the upcoming 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections -- where he accused the process of being plagued by extensive rigging and institutional failures -- BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has responded by referencing the Allahabad High Court’s landmark ruling concerning electoral misconduct during the 1971 elections.
In response to Gandhi’s opinion piece entitled “Match Fixing Maharashtra”, Dubey took to X, questioning the Congress leader’s credibility on the matter of electoral fairness.

Gandhi’s article, which appeared in a national newspaper, alleged that the 2024 Maharashtra elections were orchestrated using what he termed a “methodical playbook”.
He accused the BJP of manipulating the selection committee for the Election Commission; adding fictitious names to voter rolls; exaggerating voter turnout numbers; enabling fraudulent voting in strategic areas; and concealing or eliminating proof of electoral fraud.
“It’s evident why the BJP is so anxious in Maharashtra,” Gandhi remarked. “However, rigging is akin to match-fixing -- the team that cheats may claim victory, but it tarnishes institutions and undermines public confidence in democracy,” he added.
