Nishikant Dubey Takes on Congress and Rahul Gandhi Over National Project Execution from 1974 to 2014
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Friday issued a challenge to the Congress party and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, to provide evidence of any notable execution of major national development initiatives from 1974 to 2014, the period when the party held power.
During a press interaction, Dubey referenced a historical report that had called for significant reforms and advancements in sectors including nuclear energy, railway electrification, coal gasification, and hydropower.
“For nearly four decades, while the Congress was in power—aside from the five to six years under Atal Bihari Vajpayee—numerous recommendations were deliberated in reports. These included enhancing nuclear facilities, broadening railway electrification, promoting coal gasification, and advancing hydropower,” Dubey stated.
Furthermore, he urged the Congress leadership to clarify what actions were taken to implement these recommendations during their governance.
“I challenge Congress and Rahul Gandhi to account for what was executed from this report between 1974 and 2014. In 1973, Vajpayee ji raised concerns about the purpose of preparing a committee report if its recommendations were to be disregarded. The report was generated but never given due seriousness. This reflects the Congress's approach,” he added.
Dubey also commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, asserting that the government has adeptly navigated multiple global challenges.
“As Prime Minister Modi has articulated, just as he safeguarded 140 crore individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic, India remained relatively unscathed despite global crises such as the Russia–Ukraine war. Likewise, amidst tensions involving Iran, India has maintained stability. Prime Minister Modi will persist in protecting 140 crore Indians from every crisis,” he asserted.
The BJP MP further accused opposition parties of attempting to incite unnecessary fear among the populace.
“There is no genuine crisis. The crisis narrative is being fabricated by the Congress, the Samajwadi Party, and the Trinamool Congress,” Dubey claimed, while also criticizing LoP Gandhi and accusing him of disseminating propaganda.
Meanwhile, LoP Gandhi expressed concerns on Thursday regarding LPG shortages impacting the hotel industry due to the West Asia crisis. While speaking in the Lok Sabha, the Congress MP asserted that this issue marks the “beginning of pain” that could escalate in the days ahead.
He also condemned the Union government, questioning how US President Donald Trump could dictate “from where and from whom India should procure its oil.”
