Kolkata, July 5 (NationPress) The West Bengal branch of the BJP, led by its newly appointed State President Samik Bhattacharya, is diligently preparing for a significant political rally featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This event is set to take place prior to the Trinamool Congress’s annual Martyrs' Day rally in Kolkata on July 21.
A source from the state BJP committee revealed that the Prime Minister is expected to embark on an election campaign in Bihar the week before July 21, as the Assembly elections are scheduled for later this year.
“We are making every effort to ensure that the Prime Minister can allocate time for a rally at his convenience before his campaign in Bihar. This rally would serve as a significant morale boost for our party workers, who are eager and prepared for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections next year, under the leadership of Samik Bhattacharya. Additionally, through this rally, we aim to send a clear message to the ruling party before their annual Martyrs' Day rally on July 21,” stated a member of the party’s state committee.
The state BJP has already initiated communication with the Prime Minister's Office in New Delhi regarding this event.
On another note, Bhattacharya clarified on Friday that his recent comments, made after assuming the role of State President, where he stated that “the BJP's struggle is not against Muslims in West Bengal, but for enhancing their living conditions,” were misinterpreted by some as a deviation from the party's official stance regarding appeasement politics and the injustices faced by Hindus in the state.
“The Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, emphasized the need for unity among Hindu voters in West Bengal. I pointed out that those in the Muslim community who believe that a change in governance is impossible without their support are mistaken. I urged them to reflect on their circumstances and compare them with their counterparts in Gujarat,” stated the State BJP President.
He further urged all “anti-Trinamool Congress individuals” in the state, regardless of their political affiliations, to unite in their efforts to end the 14-year rule of the Trinamool Congress government under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
