Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 11 (NationPress) The West Bengal division of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) anticipates a historic gathering at its grand rally scheduled for March 14 at the Brigade Parade Ground in central Kolkata, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the keynote speaker.
Preparations are currently underway at the Brigade Parade Ground, where multiple stages are being constructed for the event. This rally will also signify the end of the BJP's Parivartan Yatra that commenced earlier this month in anticipation of the pivotal Assembly elections in West Bengal later this year.
As stated by BJP’s state vice-president in West Bengal, Raju Banerjee, who is overseeing the rally's arrangements, organizational efforts are advancing swiftly. The party is optimistic about attracting attendees from all regions of the state to hear the Prime Minister's address.
However, he declined to specify the number of stages to be set up for the rally.
“We are unable to reveal the exact number of stages or the layout of the venue due to protocol restrictions. Nevertheless, the preparations for the rally are progressing excellently,” Banerjee informed the press on Wednesday.
He also asserted that the law and order situation in West Bengal has completely deteriorated.
“Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee shows a blatant disregard for the Indian Constitution, failing to uphold the rule of law and making exaggerated claims,” he remarked.
Banerjee expressed satisfaction regarding the appointment of R.N. Ravi, the former Intelligence Bureau chief and Tamil Nadu Governor, as the new Governor of West Bengal.
“We welcome the new Governor and, as an ordinary citizen, I urge him to come here and reinstate the constitutional and legal order in West Bengal,” Banerjee stated.
He also criticized the Chief Minister for allegedly politicizing the issue of rising cooking gas prices.
“If the Chief Minister genuinely cares about the common people's interests due to the hike in LPG prices, why hasn’t she mandated a waiver of the state tax on it? She should be accountable for the exorbitant electricity prices in West Bengal before pointing fingers at others,” Banerjee concluded.
